The cashew processing unit highly got affected by the lockdowns due to COVID 19. There was lack of job work and we had ready products but waiting for the market to open. With a new hope, we started job work from August 2020.
Cumulative Capital Cost incurred to date : Rs. 456.06 Lakh
This unit was started in March 2004 with the intention of providing vocational training and employment to persons with disabilities from backward rural areas. The unit trains the inmates in various aspects of cashew processing, such as sorting, grading, peeling, roasting, packing, etc. The unit also provides them with a regular income and a market link for their products. The unit has a capacity of processing 10 tons of raw cashew per month, and employs 50 persons with disabilities.
To reduce physical strain of vocational trainees and staff, we have installed a number of machines like cashew peeling machine, cashew grading machine and conveyor belts. These machines have enhanced the productivity of the unit.
